BCL0607 African Missions Postcard collection, 1858-[1970]
The African Missions Postcards collection is an umbrella term used to describe numerous religious orders conducting missionary works on the African continent. Some of the earliest missionaries arrived in Africa in the late 1850s and many of these orders are still in operation today. Religious orders include both catholic and protestant denominations and then are separated by gender. A small number of cards refer to the anniversary of Angola's independence and pro-communism propaganda. The captions on the majority of the postcards are in both Dutch and French.
BCL0901 Alex Haley papers, 1960-1992
The collection contains correspondence between the author, friends, colleagues and contemporaries in the literary and publishing industries; the movie industry, celebrities and fans; ephemera and documents relating to ROOTS, eleven unfinished manuscripts; business files including contracts for speaking engagements and photographs.
