Scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, photographic prints, letters and programs pertaining to the After School House (South Miami, Fla.).
HM1993-171 Black and white cililian and military life at Pahokee and Belle Glade (Fla.), 1941-1943
Black-and-white, 4x5 inch photographs document everyday life during World War II in and near agricultural communities along the southern rim of Lake Okeechobee. The bulk of the images are of Black Bahamian migrant workers.
HM1998-566 Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce scrapbooks, 1968-1984

The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings selected by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. These clippings document private and public sector growth and development in the city, and issues that affected the community during that period. The Chamber's role as a catalyst for civic improvement is also documented.

Topics relating to people of color include:  the role of African Americans and Cuban Americans; race relations; and the Miami riot of 1980 following the acquittal of the police officers charged with the murder of Arthur McDuffie.

HM2000-269 Letter describing life at Key West barracks during the Civil War, 1863 October 9
The letter was written from a son to his father regarding personal matters and his concern over the impending arrival of a regiment of 500 colored men from New Orleans.

Program, score sheets and menu for buffet dinner and dance at the Everglades Hotel. Also includes a brief history of the North-South tournaments from 1953.
HM1986-299 Papers relating to African American housing in Brownsville (Miami, Fla.), circa 1958
Collection of materials relating to housing in the Brownsville and Melrose sections of Miami (Fla.). Items include:  Miami Times issue for April 12, 1958; county housing report forms and instructions; two detailed block surveys (N.W. 22 St. and 30 Avenue, Miami; N.W. 21 Terr. and 29 Ave., Miami); 3 blueprints of the Melrose and Brownsville neighborhoods between N.W. 27 and 37 Avenues.

HM1989-011 Photographs from the Miami News Collection, 1896-1988

The Miami News photographs document events, places, and people in Dade County and, to a less extent, Monroe County, Broward County, Cuba, the Bahamas, and the West Indies. Images that record the corporate history of the Miami News are also included.

Photographs pertaining to African Americans and Black Caribbean people appear throughout the collection.
